Austin FC News Release
Vancouver, CANADA - Austin FC drew 0-0 against Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday night at BC Place, earning the team's third consecutive overall shutout and third road shutout of the 2024 season. The Verde & Black have not conceded a goal in their last 303 minutes of MLS play and move up to fifth place in the Western Conference with the point earned in Vancouver.
Diego Rubio had the game's first chance in the 10th minute, with his close-range effort saved by Yohei Takaoka. Brad Stuver then added to his league-leading save tally to help keep the Whitecaps out, making three (3) saves in the half and six (6) in total. Vancouver did put the ball in the net at one point but the VAR disallowed the goal for a handball offense.
Though Vancouver continued to apply pressure, Austin's defense held strong throughout the second half to preserve a clean sheet. ATXFC became the first MLS team this season to hold the Whitecaps scoreless, just a week after becoming the first MLS team to hold LA Galaxy scoreless in last Saturday's 2-0 home win at Q2 Stadium.
