Seattle, WASHINGTON - Austin FC defeated the Western Conference leading Seattle Sounders 2-1 for their second road win of the season on Wednesday night at Lumen Field. Ethan Finlay tallied a goal and an assist, while Gyasi Zardes added his first goal of the season.
The Verde & Black struck first in Seattle with a goal from Ethan Finlay, his first of the season. Emiliano Rigoni found Adam Lundkvist with a pass down the left flank, who pulled it back to Finlay in the box. Finlay then struck past the goalkeeper, giving Austin a 1-0 lead. Goalkeeper Brad Stuver made two (2) saves in the final 10 minutes of the first half, preserving the halftime lead.
In the 57th-minute, Zardes scored his debut goal for Austin FC, doubling the lead for the visitors. Stuver made a vital save in the 67th-minute, denying Albert Rusnák from point blank range. Fredy Montero brought the hosts to within one in the 79th-minute, but Austin FC held strong to take all three points.
