TONIGHT: Following last night's rain out, the Mudcats begin a seven game home stand tonight with a doubleheader and games one and two of a three game series versus the Salem Red Sox at Five County Stadium in Zebulon. The Mudcats lead the overall season series 3-1 having won three of four in Salem to start the second half between June 26 and June 29.

ICYMI: The Mudcats have been rained out each of the last three calendar days and last played on July 31 in Winston-Salem where they lost a rain shortened game in the fifth, 3-1, to the Dash. Carolina's game on August 1 in Winston-Salem was postponed due to rain and the resulting doubleheader on August 2 ended up canceled due to rain in Winston-Salem. Meanwhile, Carolina's series opener with the Red Sox scheduled for last night in Zebulon was also rained out.

WAITING GAME: The Mudcats and South Atlantic League's Greensboro Grasshoppers are the only two full season Minor League Baseball teams to have not yet played a game in August. The Grasshoppers have had to deal with rain outs over the last four calendar days (7/31 at Rome: PPD, 8/1 DH at Rome: Canceled, 8/2 at Kannapolis: PPD, 8/3 DH at Kannapolis: PPD).

WHERE THEY RANK: RHP Conor Harber is currently 2nd in the Carolina League in earned run average (2.18) and is 2nd in batting average against (.209)... RHP Braden Webb is currently 6th in the CL in strikeouts (96) and tied for 4th in most walks (54). Webb is also 2nd among CL starters in highest SO/9ip ratio (9.13)... RHP Luke Barker leads the Carolina League in saves (16) and games finished (29). Barker is also 2nd in games (37), tied for 2nd among CL relievers in lowest batting average (.189) and 2nd in lowest BB/9ip ratio (1.95)... INF Dallas Carroll is currently 3rd in the CL in games played (105), 3rd in at bats (400) and 3rd in most walks (54)... INF Weston Wilson is 5th in the CL in total bases (165).

TRENDING: INF/OF Weston Wilson is batting .600/.652/.850 with a 1.502 OPS over his last seven games (12-for-20, 8 R, 2 2B, 1 HR, 3 RBI)... INF Nick Roscetti is batting .323/.323/.355 with a .677 OPS over his last 10 games (10-for-31, 2 R, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 7 SO)... LHP Daniel Brown has totaled 13 strikeouts and pitched to a 1.59 ERA over his last 5.2 innings pitched... WILSON'S JULY: Weston Wilson finished July batting .436/.481/.681 with a 1.162 OPS over 27 games played and was named the Milwaukee Brewers MiLB player of the month for July. Wilson finished July tied for first in the CL in OPS (1.162), 1st in average (.436), 1st in OBP (.481), 2nd in SLG (.681), 2nd in runs (26), 1st in hits (41), tied for 4th in extra-base hits (12), 2nd in total bases (64), tied for 3rd in home runs (5) and tied for 4th in RBI (23). Wilson also finished July 1st in MiLB (full-season teams) in average (.436) and tied for 4th in OPS (1.162).

IT'S ME, MARIO: Mario Feliciano is batting .286/.350/.486 with a .836 OPS since returning from the disabled list on 7/19. Feliciano is additionally riding a five game hitting streak and is slashing .500/.500/.889 with a 1.389 OPS during the streak (9-for-18, 3 R, 4 2B, 1 HR, 6 RBI, 1 BB, 6 SO). Feliciano was placed on the DL on 6/26 after suffering a hand injury while catching and defending home on a play at the plate in Buies Creek on 6/21.

INSERT HUMMEL: Cooper Hummel is batting .273/.398/.481 with a .878 OPS (21 H, 14 R, 10 2B, 2 HR, 15 RBI) since replacing an injured Tucker Neuhaus in the fourth inning of a home game versus the Keys on July 6. Hummel ended up going 1-for-2 with a two-run home run (eventual game winner in the seventh) in that same game and has not missed a start since (22 consecutive games).

MUDDIES ON THE POND: The Carolina offense is currently last in the CL when batting with runners on base (.237 / .672 OPS), last when batting with runners in scoring position (.239 / .689 OPS), 8th when batting with runners in scoring position with 2-outs in an inning. (.222 / .680 OPS) and 8th when batting with the bases loaded (.218 / .610 OPS).

HITS AND Ks: The Carolina offense has totaled 170 more strikeouts than hits (998 SO, 828 H) so far this season. Carolina's difference in strikeouts over hits is currently the 7th largest in MiLB. Since 1991, only the 2017 and 2007 Mudcats have finished a season with more strikeouts than hits. Carolina totaled 164 more strikeouts than hits in 2017 (1,245 SO [franchise record], 1,081 H) and 70 more strikeouts than hits in 2007 (1,219 SO, 1,149 H).

ALL THE Ks: The Mudcats offense has combined to total a CL high 998 strikeouts this season (on pace for 1,294 SO). The Carolina offense struck out a Carolina League and franchise record 1,245 times last season. The previous league record (per the 2017 Carolina League Media Guide) was 1,198 strikeouts and was set by the 1990 Lynchburg Hillcats.
