March 25, 2019 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Owen Sound Attack News Release

For the second game in a row, the Attack were unable to find the tying goal in the third period and fell to the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. After ending the first period knotted at 2, and the second trailing 3-2, the Greyhounds extended their lead in the third for a 5-2 final score and a 2-1 series lead.

The first period was once again a source of excitement in the 1st round series between the Attack and the Greyhounds, with four goals being scored in the first twenty minutes. The Soo were the first to strike this evening, with Jaromir Pytlik getting his second of the postseason on a powerplay opportunity. Barrett Hayton added another, his 3rd of the playoffs, on a shorthanded chance five minutes later for an early 2-0 lead just 12 minutes in. The Bayshore faithful weren't put off and continued to cheer and at 15:45 of the 1st they were rewarded with Barret Kirwin's 1st of the series and a 1 goal game. The Attack continued to ramp up the pressure and with 8 seconds left Aidan Dudas fired an absolute rocket past Matthew Villalta and the game was tied.

Heading into the second with momentum on their side, the Attack hoped to take their first lead of the game. Both teams had multiple chances with the man advantage and extended time 4 on 4, but it wasn't until Keeghan Howdeshell scored that the tie was broken and the Greyhounds were back ahead. The Attack pushed for the tying goal, including a partial breakaway from Zach Poirier, but could not even things up before reaching the 3rd and final period.

The Attack started out the third strong, looking for the tying goa in the final twenty minutes. Despite sustained pressure, nothing could make it into the back of the Soo net. It was Alex Johnston who finally scored, doubling the Greyhounds lead and making the hill to climb a little steeper for the Attack. Holden Wale scored his first of the playoffs just over a minute later and the Greyhounds were up 3 with 11 minutes remaining. Owen Sound continued their strong play, outshooting the Greyhounds on the night, 33-28, but couldn't find the back of the net and would fall 5-2 in the game and to 2-1 in the series.

The Hatten Home Building Centre Hardest Working Player of the Game was Cade Robinson. The Mac Taylor Corporation Three Stars were Barrett Hayton, Jaromir Pytlik and Brady Lyle.

The Owen Sound Attack are back in action on home ice Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in game 4 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals. Tickets are available online and at the MacVicar & McComb Remax Attack Box Office.
