
Atlanta United Players Receive COVID-19 Vaccination

ATLANTA - All Atlanta United First Team players today received their first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium Community Vaccination Center. Eligibility in Georgia is currently open for everyone 16 years of age and older and the players followed state guidelines for making appointments. Atlanta United is one of the first American professional sports teams to get its players vaccinated and players will receive their second shots in three weeks.
The Mercedes-Benz Stadium Community Vaccination Center has been operating as a vaccination site since January 4 and since March 24 has been operating as Federal Pilot Program Community Vaccination Center in partnership with FEMA, Georgia Emergency Management Agency, Atlanta-Fulton County Emergency Management Agency, Fulton Board of Health and the Departent of Defense. To date, more than 85,000 doses of the vaccine have been administered. Over the course of the eight-week program with FEMA, 210,000 people will be fully vaccinated through 336,000 doses of the vaccine. The Mercedes-Benz Stadium Community Vaccination Center is the largest vaccination site in the southeast and has the ability to distribute more than 11,000 vaccines per day.
Appointments are free of charge or insurance requirements.
