
Atlanta United Permanently Acquires Andrew Gutman from Celtic FC, Sends on Loan to New York Red Bulls

ATLANTA - Atlanta United today announced it has signed Andrew Gutman to a three-year contract with an additional option year from Celtic FC. In a subsequent move, Atlanta has sent the left back to New York Red Bulls on loan for the duration of the 2021 season in exchange for the club's natural third round selection in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft and up to $50,000 in 2022 General Allocation Money if specific performance conditions are reached.
Gutman, 24, signed with Celtic of the Scottish Premiership in January of 2019. He later joined FC Cincinnati via loan on Aug. 3, 2019 where he made 29 appearances and 20 starts for the club through the 2020 season.
Born in Hinsdale, Illinois, Gutman starred at Indiana University, scoring 20 goals with 17 assists in 90 appearances for the Hoosiers. He helped the team to consecutive College Cup appearances in 2017 and 2018 and earned the 2018 MAC Hermann Trophy, awarded to the best college soccer player in the country.
