Los Angeles FC News Release
The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) today announced that the Club has signed forward Cal Jennings from Indy Eleven of the USL Championship.
LAFC also acquired his College Protected List rights from FC Dallas in exchange for its natural third round selection in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft and additional incentives if Jennings meets certain performance thresholds.
"We are excited to welcome Cal to our group as we begin our preparations for the upcoming season," said LAFC Co-President & General Manager John Thorrington. "He had a strong season in USL last year, his first as a professional, and we believe he has the attributes to continue to develop as a player in MLS."
Jennings, who had recently signed a contract with Indy Eleven of the USL Championship, spent the 2020 campaign with Memphis 901 FC. The 23-year-old forward appeared in 14 of the team's 15 games in Group G, and finished first in goals (9), shots (21) and shots on goal (17).
The 5-foot-11 forward was originally selected in the first round (17th overall) of the 2020 MLS SuperDraft by FC Dallas following a standout collegiate career at the University of Central Florida. In four years at UCF, Jennings scored 46 goals in 64 games, including 18 goals as a senior in 2019.
