Nashville SC News Release
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Nashville Soccer Club announced today that it has extended the contract of veteran defender Eric Miler through the 2021 Major League Soccer season with an option for 2022.
"Eric offers valuable leadership and experience both on and off the field, and we are happy to have him returning," said Mike Jacobs, Nashville SC General Manager.
The MLS veteran joins a core of Nashville defensemen whose contracts have also been extended during the offseason. Nashville SC's brass have set a firm foundation on the backline with 2020 MLS Defender of the Year and Best XI selection Walker Zimmerman, Dave Romney, Daniel Lovitz and Alistair Johnston along Goalkeeper Joe Willis.
Miller, 27, was originally selected by Nashville SC in Stage 1 of the 2019 MLS Re-Entry Draft on Nov. 26, 2019. In his first season with the club, Miller appeared in six matches after making his club starting debut in Nashville's inaugural MLS match against Atlanta United FC in front of 59,069 fans, the largest crowd for a soccer match ever in the state of Tennessee.
Miller brought a wealth of experience to Nashville after experiencing great success in CF Montréal, reaching the Canadian Championship Final both seasons and claiming the trophy in 2014.
Overall, in his MLS career, Miller has appeared in 121 regular season and five playoffs matches. In 2017 with the Colorado Rapids, Miller started 30 matches and was a vital piece for the Rapids as the club returned to the Western Conference Finals for the first time since 2010.
