Atlanta Summons Sterling From Wolves
January 31, 2008 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Chicago Wolves News Release
The Atlanta Thrashers have recalled left wing BRETT STERLING from the Chicago Wolves.
STERLING has appeared in 11 games with the Thrahsers this season over two stints during his National Hockey League debut, collecting three points (G, 2A) and 14 penalty minutes. The 23-year-old forward ranks fourth in the AHL with 23 goals and is tied for 15th in the league with 41 points - third-most on the Wolves - in just 36 matchups.
The Los Angeles native netted a goal in the 2008 AHL All-Star Classic on Monday after being named to the PlanetUSA starting lineup earlier in the month. The 2007 AHL Rookie of the Year, STERLING ranks seventh on Chicago's all-time goal scoring list with 78 markers in 113 tilts, which includes a league-high 55 last season. He has racked up 138 points during his two seasons of work in a Wolves uniform, which includes ranking third in the AHL with 97 points during his professional debut in 2006-07.
The Wolves return to action on Friday with a matchup against the Milwaukee Admirals at the Bradley Center at 7 p.m., before hosting the Rockford IceHogs at the Allstate Arena on Saturday at 7 p.m.
