Wolves' Girls Puck-er Up
January 31, 2008 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Chicago Wolves News Release
The wives and girlfriends of the Chicago Wolves players will be hosting their annual Valentine's Day fundraiser, sponsored by Chipotle, at home games on Sat., Feb. 2; Sat., Feb. 9; Sun., Feb. 10; Wed., Feb. 13; Wed., Feb. 20 and Sun., Feb. 24.
Specially wrapped Valentine's Day pucks, which contain candy, a gift certificate for a free Chipotle burrito and the autograph of a surprise Wolves player, can be purchased for $10 in the East, North and South Concourses of the Allstate Arena. Fans who buy a puck that has a player's name signed in gold will have the chance to meet that player after the game.
In addition, a silent auction will be held at each of the games where fans can bid on the chance to have dinner with Darren Haydar and his girlfriend Sara, Jason Krog and his girlfriend Kim, or Brian and Kelly Sipotz, along with autographed merchandise from around the National Hockey League and American Hockey League.
"Every one of us has been touched in some way by the causes that we are raising money for this year, and all the girls are very motivated about this fundraiser because we really see it through from start to finish, which is a big undertaking," said Kelly Sipotz. "It's also a lot of fun for us to get to interact with the fans, whether it be selling the pucks at games or going to dinner with them after the auction. We like to get a chance to talk to them about the guys, and for them to get to know us and what we do, too."
Proceeds from the fundraiser will be donated to the Y-Me Breast Cancer Organization, the Dan Snyder Memorial Fund and other various Chicago-area charities. Snyder, a member of the 2002 Calder Cup Championship team who spent two seasons with Chicago (2001-2003), passed away on Oct. 5, 2003, six days after suffering major head injuries in a car accident.
