Chicago Wolves News Release

The Atlanta Thrashers have recalled center JIM SLATER from the Chicago Wolves. In addition, the Wolves have recalled center JARED ROSS from the ECHL's Gwinnett Gladiators.

The Wolves have had 24 transactions this month - including nine with Atlanta - after experiencing just nine in the first 22 days of October last year. In 2003-04, the National Hockey League's last season, Chicago underwent just six roster changes during that span.

SLATER, who was assigned by Atlanta on Oct. 6, was held scoreless in the Thrashers' season-opener on Oct. 5, his NHL debut. He has collected two points (G, A) in four games with the Wolves.

Last season, the 22-year-old forward led Michigan State University and ranked fifth in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association with 48 points. Atlanta's first-round pick (30th overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, he ranks 23rd all-time in Michigan State history with 172 points (64G, 108A) in 157 games spanning four seasons (2001-2005).

ROSS has been held scoreless in one game with Gwinnett after being assigned to the Gladiators on Oct. 10. He did not suit up for Chicago's Oct. 7 season-opener.

The Huntsville, Ala., native made his professional debut last season with the United Hockey League's Motor City Mechanics, notching five assists and eight points in 12 games. He also finished a four-year career at the University of Alabama-Huntsville by registering a career-high 22 goals and 40 points in 30 games.

Overall, ROSS collected 72 goals and 158 points in 133 games spanning four seasons with the Chargers.
