Norfolk Admirals News Release

Despite firing 44 shots on goal, the Norfolk Admirals were unable to score on Philadelphia netminder Jamie Storr, and the Phantoms won a 1-0 battle at Scope.

Philadelphia put 12 shots on Admirals' goaltender Corey Crawford in the opening frame. However, Crawford and the Ads' penalty kill prevented any Phantom goals, and after one period the game remained scoreless.

Norfolk out-shot Philadelphia 15-8 in the second, but were unable to put the puck past Storr. After the second period, the score was still deadlocked at 0-0.

The Phantoms got on the board less than a minute into the third period. Tony Voce passed the puck to an open R. J. Umberger from behind the net. Umberger shot the puck from the top of the crease and beat Crawford for a 1-0 lead. Though the Admirals registered 22 shots in the period, they were unable to come up with the equalizer, and the game would end 1-0 in favor of Philadelphia.

Storr picked up the win for Philadelphia stopping all 44 shots he faced. Corey Crawford was saddled with the loss while turning aside 25 of 26 shots.

Norfolk was 0-7 on the power play while Philadelphia was 0-4.
