
Atlanta Dream partner with Atlanta Hakws for girls basketball shooting clinic

ATLANTA, Feb 19, 2008 - The Atlanta Dream partnered with the Atlanta Hawks for a Saturday Fundamentals Clinic earlier this month in conjunction with National Girls and Women in Sports Day.
Forty-five girls, from ages 8 to 17, participated in the shooting clinic. WNBA player Rushia Brown and former WNBA player and Olympian Carla McGhee worked with Hawks Basketball Development Liaison Charlie Criss, former Atlanta Hawks and female basketball players and coaches to put on the shooting clinic and give motivational speeches.
The clinic was held February 9 at Philips Arena on the Hawks official practice court.
The Atlanta Dream was officially announced as the 14th team in the WNBA on October 17, 2007. The Dream will begin play in May 2008 at Philips Arena, joining the Chicago Sky, Connecticut Sun, Detroit Shock, Indiana Fever, New York Liberty and Washington Mystics in the Eastern Conference. The team will tip-off in its first regular season home game on Friday, May 23 at 7:30 p.m. against defending Eastern Conference Champions the Detroit Shock.
