
Astros Purchase Contract of Bruntlett

Metairie, LA â The Houston Astros announced today that the club has purchased the contract of Zephyrs infielder Eric Bruntlett. Bruntlett will take the place of Jose Vizcanio on the Astros roster. Vizcaino was placed on the 15-day Disabled List with a broken left wrist
Bruntlett played 28 games at second and 44 at shortstop for the Zephyrs, while hitting .265 with two home runs, 27 RBIs and 45 runs in 74 games. Bruntlett, a 2000 ninth-round pick out of Stanford, is expected to be in uniform in time for the Astros game this afternoon at Arizona.
The Zephyrs won seven of eight on the road trip will begin an eight game home stand on Thursday June at 7:05 p.m. The Zephyrs will face the Albuquerque Isotopes; the Class AAA Pacific Coast League Affiliate of the Florida Marlins, for four games followed by the Nashville Sounds, the Class AAA Pacific Coast League Affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates fro four games. The Z's lead the PCL Eastern Division by 2 ½ games over the Sounds.
