Everett Silvertips News Release

EVERETT, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips, proud eight-time U.S. Division champion and two-time Western Conference champion of the Western Hockey League, announced today that defenseman Olen Zellweger, right wing Hunter Campbell and center Alex Swetlikoff have been named members of the club's leadership group as assistant captains, joining forward Jackson Berezowski and defenseman Ronan Seeley as co-captains of the Silvertips for the 2021-22 WHL season.

Succeeding both Gianni Fairbrother and Cole Fonstad, serving in the co-captain roles last season, both players open their fourth full WHL season as 2002-born players coming off the franchise's eighth U.S. Division title, captured last season with a 19-4 record in 23 games during a pandemic shortened WHL regular season, and have been a part of two U.S. Division titles since their first season of play. Both served on the Silvertips leadership group last season as assistant captains.

"We're pleased to announce a leadership group that combines several elements of work ethic, character, and a relentless approach that set the foundation of our goals this season," said Silvertips general manager and head coach Dennis Williams. "With our co-captains setting the tone this pre-season in Ronan Seeley and Jackson Berezowski, there are additional individuals in Olen Zellweger, Hunter Campbell, and Alex Swetlikoff who are experienced, dedicated, and committed to making their teammates better. Our group will be fundamentally better with being leaders in their own right, and look forward to everybody's contribution."

With Seeley and Berezowski rotating the assignment of captain throughout the 68-game regular season schedule, Zellweger, Campbell, and Swetlikoff will each wear an alternate captain's "A" on their jerseys.

Zellweger, 18, was selected by the Ducks in the second (34th overall) in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft after ranking fourth among league defensemen in points per game (1.18) last season. He appeared in 11 games for the Silvertips with 13 points (2g-11a), five power play assists, and one game-winning goal. He left the Silvertips for the remainder of the shortened season to help Team Canada capture the gold medal at the Under-18 World Championships, where he tied the program's lead among defensemen with eight points (1g-7a) in seven games and had an assist in their gold medal victory. Along with Seeley, he recently completed national junior team summer development camp with Team Canada, in preparation for this winter's World Junior Championships.

The native of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta has 25 points (4g-21a) and a +25 rating in 70 career WHL games, all with the Silvertips, and was selected in the second round by the Silvertips in the 2018 WHL Draft. With Team Canada-Red at the 2019 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, he earned a pair of assists in five games.

Campbell, 20, has 170 games of WHL experience with the Silvertips and Calgary Hitmen with 49 points (20g-29a) and 146 penalty minutes. The native of Everett and graduate of Cascade High was acquired from Calgary on Jan. 9, 2020 in exchange for left winger Conrad Mitchell and a sixth round selection in the 2020 draft, following up with 34 games with the Silvertips, along with 12 goals and 24 points.

Last season, the 6-foot-2, 194 pound forward earned career highs in goals (9) and plus-minus (+10) along with 13 points in 23 games for the Silvertips.

Swetlikoff, 20, enters his final season of WHL eligibility with three seasons and 110 games of experience with Kelowna, notching 54 points (25g-29a) with 70 penalty minutes. Last year, the 2001-born forward finished tied for second on the Rockets in points (15), goals (6), and assists (9) in 15 games while leading in face-off wins (175), face-offs taken (305), and finishing with a +2 rating. He was acquired from Kelowna on Aug. 25 along with a sixth round selection in the 2023 WHL Draft in exchange for forward Max Graham.

The 6-foot-4, 190-pound forward was held scoreless only four times during the shortened 2021 season, contributed with five power play points which were tied for second on the program, earned a shorthanded assist and tallied four multi point games.
