Asheville Salvages Final Game of the Series 4-1

Rome, GA - The Asheville Tourists defeated the Rome Braves Thursday night at State Mutual Stadium 4-1 before a crowd of 1,655.

In a pitcher's duel until the sixth inning, Asheville cracked the scoreboard on Casey Golden's RBI single giving the Tourists a 1-0 lead. Rome tied the contest in the seventh thanks to Drew Lugbauer's single to plate a run for the 1-1 score. Asheville broke the tie in the ninth with three runs. The Tourists loaded the bases and Matt McLaughlin reached base on an error by Izzy Wilson and all three runners scored for the 4-1 lead. In the bottom of the inning, William Contreras lead off with a base hit but Asheville pitching retired the next three in a row to hold on for the 4-1 final.

Robert Tyler (3-0) earns the win for the Tourists and Rome's Cutter Dyals (0-1) absorbs the loss. Tommy Doyle (6) gets the save.
