Calgary Stampeders News Release
The Calgary Stampeders are pleased to announce that receiver Jabari Arthur has been named the CFL's top Canadian for Week 7.
Arthur was the Stampeders' leading receiver in Calgary's 45-35 road win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders last week as the Montreal native made seven catches for 92 yards and one touchdown. The major, the first of Arthur's career, came on the Stamps' first possession of the game and set the pace for the Red and White's third consecutive victory, a result that allowed Calgary to pull even with Edmonton at the top of the CFL's West Division.
For the season, Arthur now has 12 catches for 156 yards and one touchdown. Each total represents a career high for the University of Akron product.
Arthur is the third Calgary player this season to be honoured by the CFL's player-of-the-week awards. Kicker Rene Paredes and kick returner Larry Taylor were named the league's top special teams player in Weeks 2 and 6, respectively.
TheStamps are currently on a bye-week break and they will return to action on Saturday, Aug. 27 when they play host to the Montreal Alouettes. Game time is 2 p.m. and you can catch all the action on TSN (subject to blackout) and AM770 CHQR.
For the convenience of fans, Stampeders merchandise and single-game tickets are now available for purchase on-line. The services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Visit stampeders.com for more.
