Arsenal Outlasts RimRockers

January 13, 2007 - NBA G League (G League) - Anaheim Arsenal News Release

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Arsenal snapped its short two-game skid as they topped the RimRockers in Arkansas on Saturday by the score of 115-112.

Clay Tucker's three-point attempt as time ran out bounced off the rim to send Arkansas (6-12) to their 10th consecutive defeat. The win moved the Arsenal to a record of 8-12.

"They took us to the basket," said RimRockers Head Coach Andy Stoglin. "They drew a lot of fouls early. We haven't done a good job the last two games at stopping penetration; if we don't stop penetration you're going to get a lot of fouls."

The RimRockers made a run in the closing minutes of the game but it was the Arsenal that ended up on top, thanks to its success at the free throw line. The Arsenal connected on 37 of its 41 attempts (92%) at the charity stripe, while the RimRockers struggled at the line only converting 64.3% of their 28 attempts.

Jawad Williams led all scorers, including five Arsenal players in double digits, with 29 points. MaJic Dorsey's 19 points and 4 assists off the bench helped guide Anaheim to the win.

Matt Haryasz returned to his old self recording his first double-double since returning from injury with a team-high 23 points and 12 rebounds, but the Arkansas RimRockers again found themselves a little short.

The final quarter saw both teams put on an offensive show as they both netted 41 points in the fourth. After falling behind by 13 with 5:11 remaining in the game, RimRockers guard Clay Tucker put the team on his back scoring 15 of his 22 points; while also putting in a game-high eight assists

The RimRockers will head to Sioux Falls for the MLK NBA D-League Showcase on Monday where they will try to end their losing streak as they take on the Idaho Stampede in an 11:00 a.m. showdown. The Arsenal will visit the Dakota Wizards on Sunday before traveling to the Showcase.
