CHECKING IN: D-League Director of Business Operations Seth Denton and his wife Rebecca are the new proud parents of Daniel Luke Denton, born at 8:55 p.m. Friday and checking in at 8-pounds even. Luke, mom and dad are all doing well.

THEY SAID IT: "I take it as a compliment that (the Jazz) sent me, instead of just letting me sit there. I take it as a sign to get better, but show everybody else I can play also." ... Idaho guard C.J. Miles told the Idaho Statesman in regards to being assigned to the Idaho Stampede.

SPEAKING OF CJ: In his first game on assignment from the Jazz to Idaho, C.J. Miles scored the Stampede's final five points, including a tip-in at the buzzer to lift Idaho to its sixth straight win.

SHOWCASE BEGINS MONDAY: The annual NBA D-League MLK Showcase, featuring 12 games in three days, runs Jan. 15-17 at the Sioux Falls Arena. Two sessions of two games each begin at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. central time each day. Games 2 and 4 of each day will tip off 25 minutes following the conclusion of the previous game. NBA TV will televise all 12 games from the Showcase, 10 live. Game coverage begins at noon ET each day.
