Arnold and Sauve back to Monarchs for start of playoffs

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Manchester Monarchs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, Rich Seeley, announced that Derek Arnold and Yann Sauve will both rejoin the Monarchs for the start of the Kelly Cup Playoffs against the Adirondack Thunder. Arnold was released from his PTO by the Charlotte Checkers (AHL) and Sauve has been loaned to the Monarchs by the Stockton Heat (AHL).

Arnold, 26, has played in 42 games for the Monarchs this season, scoring 30 points on 16 goals and 14 assists. The first-year player has recorded six multi-point games this season, and rejoins the Monarchs with the 3rd highest shooting percentage amongst ECHL rookie skaters at 18.0%.

The 5-foot-8, 165-pound Foxboro, Mass. native played in five games with the Checkers, scoring two points one goal and one assist, and has been loaned to the Ontario Reign (AHL) and Portland Pirates (AHL) this season, playing in 9 games between the AHL teams without recording a point. Prior to joining the Monarchs, Arnold played 151 games over four seasons at UMass-Lowell (H-East) and scored 98 points on 43 goals and 55 assists, winning a Hockey East Championship in the 2012-13 season.

Sauve, 26, has played in 52 games with the Monarchs this season and has scored 29 points on seven goals and 22 assists. Sauve was recalled by the Stockton Heat on April 8, and played in one game before being loaned back to the Monarchs.

The 6-foot-3, 212-pound left-shot defenseman from Montreal, Quebec has played in 227 career AHL games, scoring eight goals and 37 points, as well as 105 career ECHL games, scoring 19 goals and 35 assists. Sauve was a second round pick of the Vancouver Canucks (#41 overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, and was the #1 overall selection by the Saint John Sea Dogs in the 2006 QMJHL Entry Draft. In his career, Sauve has played in eight NHL games.

Arnold, Sauve and the Monarchs are back in action Wednesday night (7 p.m.), when they host the Adirondack Thunder for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.
