Toronto Argonauts News Release

Mississauga – The Double Blue colours definitely look good on quarterback Damon Allen. The Toronto Argonauts Football Club is thrilled to announce that it has come to a two year agreement with the veteran pivot. Allen led the team to its 2004 Grey Cup victory after overcoming injury mid-way through the season. The 4 time Grey Cup champion holds many CFL records. Here are some highlights:

Damon Allen - CFL Regular Season Records

- CFL's all-time leading passer with 64,240 passing yards (2nd most in pro football history, after Warren Moon)

- CFL's all-time leader in passing touchdowns with 346

- CFL's all-time leader in pass attempts with 8,004

- CFL's all-time leader in pass completions with 4,746

- CFL's all-time leader in rushing yards by a quarterback with 11,241 rushing yards (ranks 3rd in all-time CFL rushing, by any player)

Damon Allen, a 2-time Grey Cup MVP and 1-time Grey Cup Offensive Player of the Game, commented on the signing. "I'm excited to be back in Toronto. The main reason I'm coming back has everything to do with my teammates. The chemistry we had last year and the family atmosphere of this team has the potential to build even more this season and that is motivating to me. It will be a pleasure to play for the city of Toronto and the fans, who have welcomed me with open arms over the last two years. My family and I have been treated very well here and I'm looking forward to the 2005 season."

"If the Grey Cup was an early Christmas present, then the signing of Damon Allen is an early Valentine's Day jewel. In our journey to the Grey Cup, the legendary veteran was the heartbeat of our team. I don't think it's an overstatement to suggest that his resilience captivated our entire city. I am thrilled that the only three time offensive MVP of the Grey Cup will be back in the Double Blue again this year," enthused Argo Head Coach Michael "Pinball" Clemons.

Toronto Argonauts Vice President of Football Operations Adam Rita added, "I am excited to work with Damon once again. This gives Damon a chance to take care of some unfinished business in his career goals and our team will benefit from that."
