Ottawa Renegades News Release
OTTAWA â The Ottawa Renegades commitment to giving back to the community continues with yet another initiative tonight.
Renegades Head Coach and General Manager, Joe Paopao, his coaching staff and players including offensive lineman Val St. Germain and receivers Pat Woodcock and David Azzi will be present on "RENEGADES DAY" for the seventh annual Jacques Whitford Engineers and Contractors Hockey Tournament kickoff event at the new Bell Sensplex. The three-day tournament is a fundraiser that supports the Friends of the Disabled Charity.
"We're excited to be part of a great cause," said Paopao. "We are looking forward to the event and being out as a staff and getting to meet some people. But most of all, to have a chance to give back to the Friends of the Disabled Charity is the reason why we will be there and are happy to be there."
Ottawa's players are equally as enthusiastic.
"This is another great opportunity to give a little back to the community," said Woodcock. "I'm very proud to be involved in such a prestigious event."
Tuesday night's itinerary has festivities getting underway at 5 p.m. The three-day event culminates on February 10 and in addition to over 600 players (some 40 corporate teams) taking part in the actually hockey tournament, there will be an industry tradeshow, on-ice shoot-out, awards banquet, silent auction, raffle, on-site live broadcast by Team 1200 and, of course, the Renegades involvement to get the tournament underway.
