Toronto Argonauts News Release

Toronto - Argos receiver Derrell "Mookie" Mitchell hopes to live up to the game day theme and become a "hometown hero" by gaining 92 receiving yards and breaking Paul Masotti's existing record to become the Boatmen's all-time leading receiver on Thursday, July 12 at 7:00 p.m. at Rogers Centre. Mitchell, an All-Time Argos nominee, is expected to suit up for his first game in the Double Blue since 2003 and should eclipse Masotti's 8,772 receiving yards soon.

Hometown Heroes Night is presented by Tim Hortons, with 50/50 proceeds from the game going to support the great community work of The Argos Foundation - Stop The Violence. Kickoff duties will be handled by Allen Plant, Wal-Mart Canada's Director of Human Resources and board member of The Argos Foundation. Additionally, the anthem will be sung by Constable Melissa Elaschuk of Toronto Police Services while Dave Wilson, President of the Toronto Police Association, will be present a $25,000 cheque to The Argos Foundation during half-time.

Just as Michael Bishop and the offence and Orlondo Steinauer and the defence strive for on-field heroics, tomorrow's heroes will also be featured at the game as the Jr. Blue Thunder Cheerleaders will perform and minor football teams will compete at half-time. Special teams honourary captain, seven-year-old Cody Bell of Ingleside, Ontario, will be filmed in the Argos pre-game fan tunnel for The War Amps PLAYSAFE PSA.

The festivities start at 5:00 p.m. with the Steelback Streetfest on Bremner Blvd. and continue with outdoor entertainment surrounding Rogers Centre. The pre-game party, featuring cheerleaders, prizes and more, is at Jack Astor's, 144 Front Street West. Outside Gate 11, youth from 7th Generation Image Makers will be painting one of the ramps that will make its way to the BMX Bike Park, a youth engagement project by The Argos Foundation at the Bremner Street Festival for Grey Cup 2007.

Fans will be able to vote for the All-Time Argos team via in-stadium ballots. Following the game, Boatmen supporters can turn in their ballots and head down to get some autographs during See You on the Field. The official post-game party is at Forget About It Supper Club, 325 King St. West, immediately following the game.

The Toronto Argonauts are North America's oldest professional football club, celebrating their 134th anniversary in 2007.
