Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

Waterloo, Iowa - Before joining the Waterloo Black Hawks this fall, forward Matt Argentina will represent the United States during the Five Nations Tournament in Germany next month.

Argentina will be a member of the 2019 U.S. Under-17 Men's Select Team, which contends in the annual event each August. This season's competition will be August 13th through 17th in Fussen, Germany. Switzerland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Germany are the other nations which will field teams. Each year since 2007, the United States has finished among the top three countries at the event.

In March, Argentina became just the fourth player the Black Hawks have ever signed to a pre-USHL Draft tender agreement, assuring that he will join Waterloo in 2019/20. He spent last season with the New Jersey-based Mercer Chiefs, helping the program win the Atlantic Youth Hockey League's National U-16 playoff championship. Argentina simultaneously played prep hockey at The Hun School of Princeton. He is committed to Notre Dame.

This will be the third time in four years that a Black Hawk has skated for the U.S. during the Five Nations competition before coming to Waterloo. Last August, Dane Montgomery was a member of the U-17 Selects, then was traded to the Black Hawks in November. During the 2016 Five Nations Tournament, Jack Drury took the ice in red, white, and blue.
