SPOKANE, Wash. - The Everett AquaSox hit a two-run, go-ahead double in the ninth inning to push ahead of the Spokane Indians, defeating them 4-3 on Tuesday night in front of 3,915 fans and 199 dogs. It was Bark in the Park Night presented by The Yuppy Puppy, KAYU FOX 28 and 95.3 KPND.
Luis Parra, going for his third win of the season, gave up three hits in the ninth. The relay home to tag out Everett's go-ahead run just missed the tag by inches.
To make it more heartbreaking, Ledarius Clark hit a go-ahead, two-run home run over the left field fence to give Spokane a 3-2 lead in the eighth inning. Darius Day, who finished 1-for-3, was on base when Clark hit the shot. Day is second on the team with a .389 batting average.
Peter Fairbanks, in his starting debut, held the Northwest League's leading offense to five scoreless innings by allowing just three hits and punching out five batter. The St. Louis, Mo., native has an ERA of 1.50 on the season.
Dan Scheibe, a product of Whitworth University, made his Spokane debut. In 1.1 innings he allowed two runs to give Everett the lead in the seventh.
