
AquaSox Losing Streak at Five Games

HILLSBORO, Ore. -- Tristin English hit a two-run home run and had two hits, driving in three as the Hillsboro Hops beat the Everett AquaSox 5-1 on Wednesday before a crowd of 4,256 at Ron Tonkin Field. For the AquaSox it was their fifth straight loss - their longest losing streak of the season.
Up 2-1, the Hops extended their lead in the third inning when English hit a two-run home run. The Hops tacked on another run in the seventh when Ricky Martinez hit an RBI single, bringing home David Garza.
The AquaSox got their only run in the first inning without a hit on an RBI ground out by Trent Tingelstad that scored Connor Hoover.
Erin Baldwin (3-1) got the win with 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief. He retired all five AquaSox hitters he faced.
AquaSox Starter Jorge Benitez (2-1) took the loss allowing four earned runs on three hits in four innings. He walked three, struck out two and committed two errors on errant pickoff throws to first-base.
The AquaSox managed a total of four hits, which included two bunt singles and an infield hit. Hoover batted 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored.
