
AquaSox' Bats Fall Flat, 6-2

EVERETT, Wash. - The Everett AquaSox (16-10) dropped their first home game of the 2021 season, falling behind the Hillsboro Hops (11-15) in the sixth inning and ultimately losing, 6-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
David Sheaffer drove in a run in the bottom of the second, putting the Frogs ahead, 1-0. Hillsboro tied the game in the top of the fifth when Andrew Yerzy singled, driving in Cam Coursey.
Joseph Rosa led off the bottom of the fifth with a triple along the right-field line, scoring when Sheaffer crushed a double off the left-field wall. In the sixth inning, Tra Holmes singled up the middle, driving in two runs and putting the Hops ahead, 3-2.
Hillsboro tacked on two more runs in the top of the eighth when Leodany Perez easily scored off a sacrifice fly, quickly followed by an RBI single, giving them a 5-2 lead. The Hops scored their sixth and final run in the ninth off a soft ground ball to third base.
Rosa led off the bottom of the ninth with a crushed line-drive single up the middle, but RHP Joe Jones struck out three of the five Frogs he faced and the 'Sox fell, 6-2.
WRAPPING IT UP
At the plate, the AquaSox registered six hits, including two doubles and one triple. On the mound, RHP Levi Stoudt pitched five innings and struck out 10. David Ellingson, Kyle Hill and Fred Villarreal pitched an inning each, allowing a combined five earned runs while striking out seven.

The Frogs return to Funko Field on Thursday, June 3 to take on the Hillsboro Hops. Every Thursday home game at Funko Field is Throwback Thursday, presented by Coors Light.
