ICYMI: Tucker Neuhaus hit a three-run home run in the third and Trey Supak struck out six over five scoreless innings, but the Dash rallied for six runs in the seventh off relievers Daniel Brown and Alec Kenilvort while defeating the Mudcats 6-3 in front of a crowd of 5,086 on Friday night at Five County Stadium. Dash (1-1) starter Bernardo Flores allowed Neuhaus' home run in the third, but ended up with the victory after working through the sixth with three runs (two earned) allowed on six hits. Flores (1-0, 3.00) also walked one and struck out four in the series tying victory for Winston-Salem.

TODAY: Following last night's rain out, the Mudcats and Dash continue their season opening four game series today at Five County Stadium with a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m. The series is currently tied at 1-1, with the Mudcats taking the series opener on Thursday and the Dash winning game two on Friday night. Carolina went 8-8 in doubleheaders in 2017; 10-18 in 2016, 8-6 in 2015, 6-8 in 2014, 7-10 in 2013 and 7-10 in 2012.

MUDCATS STARTERS: LHP Nathan Kirby has the start for the Mudcats in game one of today's doubleheader. Kirby was selected by the Brewers with the 40th overall pick of the 2015 draft out of UVA. He began his first full season with Low-A Wisconsin, but landed on the DL in August, before undergoing Tommy John surgery in September of 2015. Kirby has not pitched in the Brewers system since that 2015 season, missing both the 2016 and 2017 campaigns. Kirby was considered one of the top collegiate prospects in the country entering the 2015 draft... RHP Conor Harber has the game two start for the Mudcats. Harber pitched for the Mudcats during the 2017 season and went 4-9-1 with a 5.04 ERA over 24 games and 14 starts. He closed the 2017 season with a complete game shutout versus Myrtle Beach in his final start on 9/2/17 (7.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 3 SO).

DASH STARTERS: RHP Dylan Cease is scheduled to start game one of today's twin-bill for the Dash. Cease was acquired by the White Sox as part of a trade with the Chicago Cubs last season and is currently rated as the No. 10 prospect in the White Sox system by Baseball America. Cease was assigned to Low-A Kannapolis following last year's trade and went on to go 0-8 with a 3.89 ERA over nine starts with the Intimidators. He started the 2017 season with South Bend where he pitched to a 2.79 ERA in 13 starts (74 SO, 51.2 IP)... RHP Danny Dopico gets the game two start today for Winston-Salem. Dopico pitched in 39 games (making one start) with Low-A Kannapolis in 2017 and went 5-4-4 with a 3.25 ERA. He also totaled 96 strikeouts over 69.1 innings and finished 2nd among South Atlantic League relievers in highest SO/9ip (12.67).

PERFECTION NO MORE: Friday's 6-3 loss snapped Carolina's HOME winning streak versus the Dash at 18 straight victories. The Mudcats are now 19-1 versus Winston-Salem at Five County Stadium over the last 20 meetings (dating back to the 2016 season). The 2017 Mudcats finished a perfect 13-0 when playing the Dash at home last season.

DAYMEN: The 2017 Mudcats combined to hit .270/.341/.434 and went 21-10 in day games in 2017... They additionally went 11-1 in home games played on Sunday over the course of the 2017 season. Overall, the Mudcats went 16-6 in games played on Sunday last year. Weston Wilson hit a team best .340/.377/.500 over 13 day games in 2017 (17-for-50, 5 2B, 9 RBI)... Cooper Hummel hit .304/.439/.587 with a team best 1.026 OPS over 13 day games in 2017 (14-for-46, 10 R, 3 2B, 2 3B, 2 HR, 10 RBI, 11 BB).

GOTTA CATCH 'EM ALL: Max McDowell had quite the season debut in Thursday night's season opener both behind and at the plate. The second-year Mudcats' catcher threw out four base runners attempting to steal and picked off another at first. He also went 2-for-4 with a double and scored the go-ahead run in the game deciding eighth inning... McDowell is currently 5 of 5 in catching would be base stealers... McDowell got out to a hot start behind the plate last season after leading Carolina League catchers in caught stealing last April (.550, 11 CS, 9 SB).

HOW THEY'RE BUILT: The Mudcats open the 2018 season with 10 returning players from last season, including RHP Luke Barker, RHP Marcos Diplan, RHP Conor Harber, RHP Jon Olczak, RHP Trey Supak, C/OF Cooper Hummel, C Max McDowell, INF Luis Aviles, INF/OF Weston Wilson and OF Carlos Belonis... The 2018 Mudcats also feature the Brewers top overall rated prospect (by MLBPipeline.com) in INF/DH Keston Hiura. Hiura is one of three former first round selections on the 2018 roster. The others include LHP Nathan Kirby (2015) and OF Clint Coulter (2012)... The 2018 Mudcats also feature three of Milwaukee's Top 30 prospects as rated by MLBPipeline.com. The list includes Hiura (1), Diplan (12) and Supak (23).

BIG LEAGUE CAMP: Keston Hiura hit .419/.438/.548 (.986 OPS) with 3 R, 13 H, 1 2B, 1 HR, 7 RBI and 1 BB over 19 MLB Spring Training games before his assignment to minor league camp on 3/17/18... Weston Wilson went 3-for-9 with three runs over eight MLB Spring Training games... Luis Aviles Jr. played in nine MLB Spring Training games and went 0-for-11 with six strikeouts.

WHERE THEY RANKED (2017 CL): Luis Aviles ranked 2nd in the Carolina League (behind teammate Trent Grisham) in games played with 132 last season. Aviles also finished the 2017 season 2nd in at-bats (492), 2nd in steals (38) and tied for 4th in most strikeouts (141),.. Marcos Diplan was 2nd in the CL in most walks (71) in 2017... Conor Harber finished 5th in the CL in most walks (64).

FARM REPORT: Corbin Burnes (2017) struck out six and allowed just one run on five hits over 6.0 innings in his Triple-A debut with Colorado Springs... Kodi Medeiros (2017) struck out four and allowed just three hits while working through 5.0 innings in his Double-A debut with Biloxi... Corey Ray (2017) went 1-for-5 with a home run in his Double-A debut in Biloxi.
