AppleSox Set to Open 2013 Season

The AppleSox are back and ready to start the 2013 season. It' been a long winter full of baseball dreams since the AppleSox hoisted their 5th WCL trophy last August, but at last baseball has returned to Wenatchee.
049The AppleSox will begin their defense of the league crown against Corvallis, the very team they snatched it away from just 1 year ago. The Knights and AppleSox have combined for 7 of the WCL's 8 championships since the leagues inception on 2005.
The AppleSox will turn to lefty Trevor Lubking (Pacific Lutheran) to take the mound on opening night. Lubking played last season for the AppleSox starting 11 games and compiling an AppleSox players celebrate after claiming the 2012 WCL championship. Photo Al GrieveERA of 3.71. The 2013 collegiate season has treated Lubking well. The southpaw has racked up a 2.48 ERA and notched 8 wins for the Lutes.
Corvallis will call upon righty Colin Feldtman (Portland) for the start. This season Feldtman has transitioned fulltime to the mound where he has pitched to the tune of a 2.91ERA over 34 innings for the Pilots.

The AppleSox and Knights opened their all-time series in 2000 when both clubs were members of the Pacific International League. Wenatchee holds a narrow 34-30 record over the Knights, but are 22-16 vs. their rivals at home.
