
Another one goal win for Wildcats

The Moncton Wildcats came up with their second one goal victory on home ice Friday night with a 3-2 win over the Gatineau Olympiques.
Gatineau took the lead with a power play marker at 5:34 of the opening period when Alexandre Quesnel hit for his 15th goal of the season. The Wildcats Daniel Pettersson with his second in as many nights tied the game at 18:14 on a lead pass from David Savard and Simon Jodoin.
The Cats got the only goal of the second, Alex Saulnier with a hard wrist shot from the left circle beat Maxime Clearmont at 4:54, Olivier D'aoust got the only assist. Wildcats goaltender Shane Owen came up with a penalty shot save off Denis Kendl at the 17:35 mark of the period.
Moncton made it a two goal lead at 7:05 of the third on Simon Jodoin's power play goal from the left wing, Savard and Matthew Bissonnette set up the play. The Olympiques made it interesting at 14:51 when Mitchell Porowski scored Gatineau's second power play counter from Joshua Domingues.
A desperate empty net effort in the final minute failed to produce a tie for the visitors. The Wildcats outshot Gatineau by a 34-27 margin over the 60 minutes.
On the power play, the Cats went 1 for 8 while the Olympiques were 2 for 5.
In an all Wildcats three star selections, David Savard was first, Alex Saulnier was second and Daniel Pettersson the third star.
The Wildcats now play three road games, the first in Cape Breton on Sunday afternoon at 4, then PEI on Tuesday night and the Halifax Mooseheads next Friday night. You can follow the Cats action on News 91.9 and the Telus website.
