Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release
The Winnipeg Goldeyes fell 5-1 to the Kansas City T-Bones in the rubber match of a three-game series.
In the bottom of the first inning, Kansas City's Jacob Blackwood sent a Chris Salamida offering deep into the seats at CommunityAmerica Ballpark to give his T-Bones a 1-0 lead.
Luckily for the Goldeyes, Luis Alen led off the second inning and was thinking long ball as well. The Fish first baseman tied the game with his second home run of the series and 10th of the season.
Yet, last night, the T-Bones had an answer. Jimmy Mojica singled in Keith Hernandez in the bottom of the second that put the T-Bones back on top. A couple of innings later, Rico Washington added some insurance with a home run, which was then followed up a few innings later when Ray Sadler sent another Rawlings game ball into the seats.
The Goldeyes' four hits was the extent of the offense on what was another quiet night for their bats.
Chris Salamida takes the loss after going six innings, allowing four runs on seven hits, while striking out three. Unfortunately for Salamida, the three home runs he allowed put a damper on an otherwise solid outing.
Ryan Knippschild picks up the win, going seven innings allowing one run on only three hits, while striking out eight.
The loss moves the Fish to one game below .500 with a 40-41 record. The Fish are now eight games back of the Northern League lead.
The Goldeyes will travel to North Dakota for a four game series with the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks that kicks off Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. The game can be heard live on 1290 CFRW.
