Angels Recall Wood, Option Brown to Salt Lake

SALT LAKE CITY (May 22, 2008) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announced today that the club has optioned infielder Matt Brown to triple-A Salt Lake and recalled infielder Brandon Wood. In other movement, the Salt Lake Bees have also recalled infielder Adam Morrissey from double-A Arkansas.

Brown, 25, has appeared in five games for the Angels in 2008, registering one double and two RBI. He owns a .365 average in 33 games with 13 doubles, three triples, eight home runs and 28 RBI with Salt Lake in 2008. Named the Angels Minor League Player of the Month in April, the Bellevue, Wash. native was originally selected by the Angels in the 10th round of the 2001 draft.

Wood, 23, owns a .270 average in 29 games with eight doubles, nine home runs and 23 RBI with Salt Lake in 2008. He has appeared in 11 games for the Angels this season, hitting .154 with one home run. The Austin, Texas native was originally selected in the first round, 23rd overall, by the Angels in the 2003 draft.

Morrissey, 26, has appeared in 31 games for the Travelers in 2008, hitting .257 with five doubles, four home runs and 14 RBI. He owns a .400 average with one double, two RBI, and one stolen base in three games for the Bees this season. Originally signed by the Chicago Cubs in 1999, the Gosford, Australia native signed as a free agent with the Angels prior to the 2007 season.
