Angels Outfielder Peter Bourjos to Rehab with Bees

SALT LAKE CITY (June 6, 2013) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announced today that outfielder Peter Bourjos will begin a rehab assignment in tonight's Bees home game against the Fresno Grizzlies at 7:05 p.m. The Angels also optioned right-handed reliever Dane De La Rosa to Salt Lake.

Bourjos, 26, was placed on the Disabled List with a left hamstring strain on April 29. In a three-game rehab stint with the Single-A Inland Empire 66ers starting on June 3, he hit .273 with one triple, one home run and two RBI. In 22 games with the Angels this season, Bourjos hit .313 with two doubles, two triples, two home runs and one stolen base. The Scottsdale, Ariz. native was originally selected by the Angels in the 10th round of the 2005 Draft.

De La Rosa, 30, has appeared in 27 games of relief for the Angels in 2013, owning a 1-1 record with a 4.05 ERA and 23 strikeouts. He began the 2013 season with Salt Lake, pitching two scoreless innings in two games with one save prior to his call-up. He has appeared in 39 major league games (12 with Tampa Bay) in 2011, 2012 and 2013, owning a 1-1 record with a 6.23 ERA and 36 strikeouts. The Torrance, Calif. native was originally selected by the New York Yankees in the 24th round of the 2002 Draft.
