Niagara IceDogs News Release

Johnson Andrews scored the game-winning goal for the Niagara IceDogs as the team picked up a 3-1 victory over the Kingston Frontenacs Wednesday night. Freddie Hamilton scored the tying goal while Tim Billingsley notched the final marker for Niagara.

The Frontenacs opened the scoring at the 8:44 mark as Nathan Moon beat Visentin to pick up his 28th of the season from Ryan Spooner and Alex Gudbranson.

The goal would be the lone tally of the period, and the home team took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

The second period went in a completely different direction, and the IceDogs came out on top.

Freddie Hamilton started things off just past the six minute mark with his 27th of the season on a power play to tie the game 1-1, while Ryan Strome continued his point streak by adding the only assist.

At the 13:41 mark of the second, Johnson Andrews notched his fifth goal of the season on a powerful rush as he made a beautiful tip on a Mitchell Theoret pass to make it 2-1 IceDogs.

Later in the period, veteran defenseman Tim Billingsley potted his third tally of the year from Alex Friesen and Andrew Agozzino, increasing Niagara's lead to 3-1.

After a huge second period effort, the 'Dogs would head into the intermission riding on three unanswered goals.

The first bit of action to occur in the third was a brief fight involving Jason Wilson. Wilson answered the bell against Jeff Braithwaite after he nearly collided with a fellow IceDogs player, leading with his knee. Wilson landed several blows before Braithwaite fell to the ice.

Niagara would carry the momentum gained from the fight through the rest of the period, allowing them to take a 3-1 win over the Fronts in Kingston.

The IceDogs return to action this Friday, Feb. 11 in what will be the team's only home game this weekend against the Barrie Colts. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m., and tickets can be purchased at any IceDogs ticketing location.
