Tom Kuhnhackl Named the Windsor Spitfires Player of the Week
February 9, 2011 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Windsor Spitfires News Release
Spitfires GM Warren Rychel should get heavy consideration for OHL Executive of the Year this summer.
The production the Spits have gotten from his two import rookies is a big reason why.
Alexander Khokhlachev and Tom Kuhnhackl have combined for 56 goals; the skilled Russian centre's 29 ranks him first on the club, the lanky German winger's 27, third.
Kuhnhackl has been especially hot of late, with seven goals in his last six games.
His strong play at even strength and on special teams has earned him Spitfires Player of the Week honours for the period ending Sunday, February 6th.
Kuhnhackl had three goals, two assists and was +5 in three games last week.
He had two goals, including the game winner, shorthanded, and was named first star in a 7-1 win over Brampton on Sunday.
Kuhnhackl, a fourth-round draft pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins last summer, has 51 points in 47 games this season, ranking him fifth on the club.
Windsor will take on the Western Conference's top ranked team, as the Owen Sound Attack comes to the WFCU Centre tomorrow. Game time is set for 7:05 pm; tickets can be purchased at the TekSavvy.com Box Office (Gate 2 of the WFCU Centre) by phone at (519) 254-5000 or online at windsorspitfires.com.
As of today, 200 tickets are still available for the game.
