July 3, 2022 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Philadelphia Union News Release
CHESTER, Pa. - The Philadelphia Union tied Columbus Crew SC 0-0 on Sunday night at Lower.com Field. With the draw, the Union are now in second place in the Eastern Conference with 30 points. In the first half, Columbus midfielder Pedro Santos failed to capitalize on a penalty kick after Union goalkeeper Andre Blake extended to the bottom left corner of the goal to record a diving save. Andre Blake registered three first-half saves to hold Columbus scoreless. Forward Lucas Zelarayan appeared to break the scoreless tie in the 66th minute on a shot from the center of the box, but a VAR decision resulted in no goal after Erik Hurtado was caught offside. After 90 minutes of play, Andre Blake recorded five saves to hold the score even and help the Union secure a point on the road.
The Union return home to face D.C. United at Subaru Park on Friday, July 8th (7:30 p.m. ET / ESPN).
