December 15, 2004 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Anaheim Storm News Release
Anaheim, CA (December 15, 2004) - The Anaheim Storm selected defensemen Rory Glaves (2nd overall selection) and Bruce Murray (12th overall selection) in tonight's National Lacrosse League Dispersal Draft. The Storm released forwards Brad Reppert and Todd MacFarlane.
Glaves - A rookie and Victoria, B.C. native, he was selected second by Vancouver in the 2004 Entry Draft. Originally drafted seventh by Columbus in 2002, he chose to play at the University of Hartford instead of joining the NLL. Glaves has been a strong defenseman with St. Catharines (OLA - Junior) and played with Victoria (WLA) in the Mann Cup last summer.
"Glaves is a young, athletic defensive stopper which I felt we were missing in our line-up," said Derek Keenan, general manager and head coach of the Anaheim Storm. "I am very excited about this acquisition. His speed, strength, size and experience with winning programs are extremely valuable."
Murray - A three-year veteran with Vancouver, Murray played in 41 games including two post-season contests (2002, 2003). He totaled 18 points (2G, 16A) in his career with 166 loose balls and 101 penalty minutes. Prior to joining the NLL, he played in the WLA, winning the championship in 1998 with the New Westminster Salmonbellies.
"At over six feet tall and more than 230 pounds, Murray brings size to the Anaheim Storm defensive line," said Keenan. "He has a tremendous amount of indoor experience and he can play the field with good speed and good skills."
The Storm open the season at home on January 8, when they face Philadelphia.. Individual tickets are on sale now at the Arrowhead Pond Box Office, ticketmaster.com and all Ticketmaster outlets. Season ticket packages and group discounts are also available; call 714.704.2670 for details. Visit anaheimstorm.com for details.
