December 15, 2004 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
San Jose Stealth News Release

SAN JOSE - San Jose Stealth Managing Director, General Manager and Head Coach Johnny Mouradian announced today that the organization has acquired forward Kevin Olsen and defenseman Rich Catton from the Vancouver Ravens in a dispersal draft.

Olson was selected in the first round (fourth overall) in the Ravens dispersal draft. Playing in four games last season, Olson posted six points (three goals and three assists). The 5-foot-11, 205-pound Burnaby, British Columbia native was a part of two Minto Cup Championship Teams (2000 and 2002) while playing for the Burnaby Jr. Lakers of the Western Lacrosse Association.

Catton, a five-year National Lacrosse League veteran, has posted 36 points (eight goals and 28 assists) as well as 256 loose balls in 69 career NLL games. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound Burnaby native has played in the WLA since 1990.

"Olson is a young right-handed forward who has been a proven goal scorer for Burnaby," said Mouradian. "Catton brings a veteran presence. He was a defenseman for Team Canada in the 2002 World Championships."

The dispersal draft comes on the heels of the NLL announcing that Vancouver have been removed from the 2005 NLL schedule due to their inability to secure a suitable arena lease. The Ravens, who entered the league as an expansion franchise for the 2002 season, had played their home games at General Motors Place in Vancouver for the past three seasons.
