Minnesota Swarm Selects Three In Dispersal Draft

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Minnesota Swarm General Manager Marty O'Neill announced today that the National Lacrosse League (NLL) club selected forward Craig Conn with the first overall pick and released Derek Lowe; selected goalie Nick Patterson with the sixth overall pick and released Andrew Leyshon and selected forward D'Arcy Berthiaume with the 11th overall pick and released Michael Longboat in the Vancouver Ravens Dispersal Draft.

Minnesota acquired the sixth overall pick from the Toronto Rock in exchange for the Swarm's second round pick in the 2005 NLL Entry Draft. All transactions are pending league approval.

Conn, 21 (11/16/83), tallied 39 points (19-20=39) in 13 games during his rookie NLL campaign with Vancouver last year. He ranked fourth on the team in scoring and added three power play goals, 17 penalty minutes and 60 loose balls. The St. Catharines, Ontario-native was named to the 2003-04 NLL All-Rookie Team and named NLL Rookie of the Month in January and February. Conn was originally selected in the first round (4th overall) of the 2003 NLL Entry Draft by Vancouver.

Patterson, 22 (8/12/82), posted a record of 1-4 with a 14.46 goals against average (GAA) and a .730 save percentage in nine games between the pipes for Vancouver last year. He picked up five assists and eight loose balls in 16 games overall with the Ravens. Patterson appeared in two contests with Vancouver in 2003 after being selected by the Ravens in the second round (19th overall) of the 2002 NLL Entry Draft.

Berthiaume, 29 (8/4/75), recorded six points (1-5=6) in five games with Vancouver last season. He has collected 29 points (11-18=29) and 94 loose balls in 28 career NLL contests during three seasons with Pittsburgh, Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver.
