Anaheim Storm Fall Short to the Sting of Arizona

Anaheim, CA (April 15, 2005) - In their last home game of the season, the Anaheim Storm (4-11) led the Arizona Sting (9-6) for more than three quarters with forward Casey Powell (4g, 2a) playing a strong offensive game.

The Sting's Plunkett scored the first goal of the game, leading 1-0, but the Storm immediately answered back with two goals each by Powell and Shawn Cable (2g, 2a), taking the lead 4-1. The two teams were neck and neck the rest of the game, Anaheim holding the lead until the fourth quarter.

With just five minutes left in the game, Dan Dawson (1g, 4a) scored a goal to tie it 12-12. The Sting pulled ahead in the last three minutes of the game and sealed the victory with two unanswered goals. The two goals were scored by Lindsay Plunkett (4g, 3a), his fourth goal of the night, and Pete Lough (1g). The game ended 14-12, Arizona.

Other Storm contributors were Ryan Powell (1g, 1a), Peter Morgan (1g, 2a), Matt Dwane (2g) and Adam Bysouth (2g, 1a). Matt Roik recorded 30 saves in the game. In front of a crowd of 5,891 at the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim, the Storm celebrated Fan Appreciation Night and distributed prizes throughout the game.

The Sting were led by Plunkett (4g, 3a), Jason Clark (2g) and Pat Maddalena (2g, 1a). Goaltender Mike Miron recorded the win with 32 saves in 60 minutes of play.

The Storm play their final game of the season tomorrow night in Arizona.
