
Anaheim Ducks Sign Simon Benoit to Three-Year Entry-Level Contract

SAN DIEGO - The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has signed defenseman Simon Benoit to a three-year entry-level contract beginning in 2019-20 through the 2021-22 season.
Benoit, 20 (9/19/98), has earned 2-10=12 points with a +16 rating and 27 penalty minutes (PIM) in 51 games for the San Diego Gulls, Anaheim's primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). The 6-3, 192-pound defenseman currently leads the Gulls and ranks third among AHL rookie defensemen in plus/minus. Benoit also leads Gulls rookie defensemen in goals, games and shots (61).
Signed to an AHL contract by San Diego on Sept. 27, 2018, Benoit previously played in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with Shawinigan from 2015-18. In 182 career QMJHL games with the Cataractes, Benoit collected 8-35=43 points and 136 PIM.
