Rochester Americans News Release
(Rochester, NY)... Garret Roe's second goal of the season 7:49 into the third period broke a 1-1 tie and lifted the Adirondack Phantoms to a 2-1 win over the Rochester Americans in front of 8,387 fans Friday night at The Blue Cross Arena. The loss snaps Rochester's three-game home winning streak as the Amerks (6-4-1-0, 13 points) dropped back-to-back contests for the first time this season.
T.J. Brennan scored the lone goal for the Amerks, who also received a 31-save effort from goaltender David Leggio.
After a scoreless first period that featured scoring chances at both ends of the ice, the Amerks took the lead on the power play in the second period when Brennan bombed a slap shot from the point that trickled into the net. Evan Rankin and Brian Flynn were credited with the assists as Brennan notched his fifth goal of the season and fourth on the power play. Brennan is now tied with Marcus Foligno for the team scoring lead.
The Phantoms took advantage of their own power play opportunity to tie the game midway through the second period as Danny Syvret buried a slap shot from the right wing through traffic. Marc-Andre Bourdon and Matthew Ford assisted on the goal after working the puck around the zone before finally finding Syvret for the shot.
Adirondack took the lead at 7:49 of the third period when Phantoms forward Garrett Roe fired a slapper from above the right circle that hit a Rochester player and re-directed into the net. Cullen Eddy assisted on the goal, which turned out to be the game-winner.
The Amerks head to Syracuse on Saturday, Nov. 10 to take on the Crunch at the War Memorial at Oncenter in what will be the first get-together in nearly a month since Rochester opened the 2012-13 season with a 6-5 shootout win over its longtime rival at The Blue Cross Arena. The 7:30 p.m. matchup will be just the second of 10 gatherings between the two teams this season and can be heard live on Sports 1280 WHTK.
