Johnstown Chiefs News Release
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - The Johnstown Chiefs announced today that the second of three AmeriServ Sellout Challenge of the season is being held on Saturday, January 17 when the Chiefs take on the Dayton Bombers at 7:05 PM.
"AmeriServ supports Chiefs hockey and we're thrilled to be a part of this exciting major event for the Chiefs and our community," said Jeff Powers, AmeriServ vice president of marketing.
"A few years back we started the $10,000 Goal promotion and it's quickly become one of the most crowd-pleasing promotions of the Chiefs' game experience. Now with the Sellout Challenge everyone gets a chance to win free tickets. It's one more reason to love Chiefs Hockey," added Powers.
This is how the Sellout Challenge works: If the attendance at Saturday's game is equal to, or above, 3,880 people, every person in attendance takes home a free ticket to a future game. As usual, the gates open one hour prior to face off, and leading up to the start of play the Chiefs staff will provide seating updates until a sellout is reached. That is when the fans will need to get involved.
As the number gets closer to 3,880, those already at the arena will need to get a hold of their family, friends, neighbors, classmates, co-workers, and any one else that they know to reach the magic number. If a sellout is reached, everyone will be handed their free ticket as they leave the arena. Also, if a sellout is reached on Saturday's challenge night the promotion will end. For example, if 4,000 fans attend the game, the other scheduled challenge for March 8 won't be in effect.
The first AmeriServ Sellout Challenge took place on November 14, 2008 against Trenton and drew a crowd of 3,280.
"We were very happy with the response to the first sellout challenge, and expect an even better result this time around," said Chiefs director of business Eric Wolfgang.
There are still good seats available for the second AmeriServ Sellout Challenge being held next Saturday. Beginning Monday, January 12 at 5:00 PM the Chiefs will provide a daily email update as to how many seats are remaining until a sellout is reached.
Mark your calendars! The Chiefs are back on home ice Friday, January 16th at 7:05 PM when they host the Elmira Jackals. The Chiefs will host Pittsburgh Sports Pride Night, and encourage fans to don their Steelers, Pirates, or Penguins gear for the game. The fan with the most Pittsburgh pride will take home a Pittsburgh sports prize pack! Good seats are still available, but going fast. Get yours today by calling 814-536-5156 or 1-800-SLAPSHOT.
