
Salmon Kings Ford Named RBC Financial Group ECHL Saver of the Month

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today goaltender Todd Ford has been named RBC Financial Group ECHL Saver of the Month for December.
This the first time the Calgary, AB native has received this award, and also marks the first time a Salmon Kings' netminder has been so honoured.
Ford was 6-1-0 with two shutouts, a goals-against average of 1.72 and a save percentage of .941 in seven starts to help the Salmon Kings go 10-2-0 and move into first place in the National Conference.
The 6-4, 195lb Ford stopped all 26 shots in a 7-0 win against Phoenix on Dec. 12 and again made 26 saves in a 4-0 win against Alaska on Dec. 19. He started three games in four days against Alaska and was 3-0-0 with a shutout, a goals-against average of 1.67 and a save percentage of .943.
In his last seven starts Ford is 7-0-0 with two shutouts, a goals-against average of 1.57 and a save percentage of .946. He is 11-5-0 overall and ranks fifth in the league with a goals-against average of 2.18 while his four shutouts tie him with teammate Jonathan Boutin for fourth.
Selected in the third round (74th overall) by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2002 National Hockey League Entry Draft, Ford is 77-53-14 with five shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.91 and a save percentage of .913 in 153 games in the ECHL with Victoria, Pensacola and Columbia. He set career bests in 2007-08 with 21 wins and two shutouts going 21-14-5 with a goals-against average of 3.01 and a save percentage of .906 in 41 regular season games for Columbia. He helped the Inferno advance to the division finals going 8-4 and ranking second in the Kelly Cup Playoffs with a save percentage of .936 and fourth with a goals-against average of 2.01.
The Salmon Kings welcome the Pacific Division leading Ontario Reign to the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre this weekend for a two-game set. The first game goes on Friday night and the second on Saturday evening. Both games start at 7:05 p.m.
