
Cyclones Complete Trade For Goaltender Ryan Nie

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The 2008 Kelly Cup champion Cincinnati Cyclones announced today that they have completed a trade with the Bakersfield Condors (ECHL) bringing goaltender Ryan Nie to the Queen City in exchange for defenseman Donny Grover. The Cyclones are the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators.
Nie, 23, is a third-year netminder with a 6-6-2 record, 3.31 goals against average and .901 save percentage with Bakersfield. He also had a game earlier this season with Elmira. Last season, Ryan turned in a 29-12-4 mark with a 2.80 goals against average and a .897 save percentage.
The six-foot-one, 180 pounder from Nanticoke, ONT began his pro career during 2006-07 with Kalamazoo (UHL), turning in a 20-8-4 slate with a league-best 2.02 goals against average and a .929 save percentage. During his four-year OHL career, Nie had a 51-54-15 record between Plymouth, Toronto and Sarnia.
Grover, 25, played 31 games with the Cyclones this season and registered ten assists and 35 penalty minutes. The fourth-year man from Boston, MA has seen action in 211 pro games with 24 goals, 76 assists for 100 points with 277 penalty minutes. He has played more than 100 ECHL games.
