
Americans Win Big over St Charles 5-1

St. Charles, Missouri - The Allen Americans took on the expansion St. Charles Chill on Friday night at The Family Arena in their second and final road game of the weekend. The Americans will cap the weekend series off with a home stand rematch against the Tulsa Oilers Saturday night.
The Americans opened the scoring for the second game in a row when Jamie Schaafsma notched his 3rd goal of the season, assisted by John Snowden at 2:56 of the opening period. Allen outshot the Chill 9-6 and held the 1-0 after the opening period of play.
Allen extended their lead to 2-0 on Trevor Ludwig's 2nd goal of the season at 2:14 of the second period, assisted by John Snowden and Jamie Schaafsma. Jamie Schaafsma earned his third point of the night with his 2nd goal of the game at 19:11, assisted by Alex Lavoie and Trevor Hendrikx to give the Americans the 3-0 lead to close out the middle frame. Allen again outshot the Chill for the period by a 19-15 count and a 28-21 two period total.
The Chill got on the board early in the third period when Dan Weiss scored on the power play at 1:19, assisted by Phil Bushbacher and Martin Hlinka. Allen answered right back when Phil Fox scored his 6th goal of the season, assisted by Ross Rouleau and Mike Berube at 4:28 to retake their three goal lead 4-1. Mike Berube added his 3rd goal of the season to extend the Americans lead further to 5-1, with assists from Tyler Ludwig and John Snowden at 10:01. St. Charles edged Allen in shots on net in the third period 9-6 but Allen led the three period total 35-30.
With the victory Allen improves to 15-10-2 and this game was a multiple points night for several players for the Americans with John Snowden leading the way with 4 points (1G, 3A), Jamie Schaafsma with 3 points (2G, 1A), and Mike Berube with a pair of assists for 2 points.
The Americans wrap up their weekend action Saturday night at the Allen Event Center when they take on the Tulsa Oilers for the final time at home this season. The puck drop is scheduled for 7:05PM.
