St. Charles Chill News Release

St. Charles, Mo. - The Chill started the third period on the power play and Dan Weiss cashed in with his fourth goal that closed the Chill deficit to 3-1 but the Americans answered with two goals of their own to put the game away by a final of 5-1.

Jamie Schaafsma scored the first of his two goals for the Americans just under three minutes into the first period for a 1-0 lead. His second goal bracketed one from Tyler Ludwig and at the end of two periods the Chill trailed 3-0 despite 21 shots, 15 in the second period.

Despite giving up a goal in the final minute of the second period the Chill took some momentum into the locker room and came out in the third period firing away.

The Chill (7-17-4) outshot Allen 9-6 in the final period and got the goal from Weiss on the assist from Phil Bushbacher and Martin Hlinka to close the score to 3-1 but the Americans (15-10-2) struck back quickly to stretch the lead back to three goals at 4-1 on the tally from John Snowden. Allen's Mike Berube added a goal midway through the third period to push the lead to 5-1 and the Chill could not convert on power play opportunities late as they continued to fight despite being down two players, including captain Jordan Fox.

The Chill travel to Wichita for games Saturday and Sunday before returning to The Family Arena for a New Year's Eve game with the puck drop set for 6:05. Call the Chill office at 636.724.SHOT to take advantage of Pepsi Family 4-Packs for just $60 that include four platinum level tickets, four hotdogs, four cans of Pepsi (or diet), and four bags of chips.
