Allen Americans News Release

The Allen Americans carry a league-best 30-8-1 record into the week of January 31st, having gone 2-1-0 over a busy weekend.

Allen won Friday night at the Laredo Energy Arena in comfortable fashion, snagging a 6-1 victory. Jarret Lukin potted two goals, and Tobias Whelan contributed with a goal and 2 assists, as the Americans buried 5 goals in the opening twenty minutes en route to a thrashing of the Bucks.

Saturday at the Allen Event Center was a much more challenging matchup with Laredo, which again saw the Americans come out on top-this time by a margin of 4-2. Bruce Graham registered a goal and two assists, including his dazzling game-winner in the third period. Scott Campbell was strong in net for Allen, stopping 18 of 20 shots.

Sunday the Americans took to the ice against the defending champion Rapid City Rush. In a nip/tuck affair, both teams registered just 22 shots on net while Rapid City came away with a 4-2 victory at the Allen Event Center. The game marked the end of a six-game win streak for Allen.

Next Up: The Americans take on the Tulsa Oilers Wednesday, February 2nd at 7:30 inside the Allen Event Center. Following Wednesday's affair, Allen will play at home Friday night against the Texas Brahmas and then Saturday at NYTEX Sports Centre against the same foe. Both weekend games are slated for 7:30 PM.

-Notes-

The Plus Side- Erik Adams and Dave Simoes have now taken over the team lead in plus/minus, checking in at plus-23.

Killin' Time- After beginning the season almost dead last in penalty kill percentage, the Americans have gotten things tightened up when they are down a man. Allen has killed off 44 out-of the last 45 power plays it has faced. That has propelled them to 6th in the league on the kill.

Double-Double- The Americans have 14 players in double-figures as far as points go. Dave Simoes (2+68) is closing in on being the 15th.

Spread it Around- The Americans lead the league in goal scoring, however they don't have a player in the top-10 in scoring. Colton Yellow Horn, and Bruce Graham, who are tied for 11th in the league for overall points, leads Allen with 49 points.

Dominant Power Play- The Americans have led the league in power play percentage for most of the season, but have now opened up a bit of a lead in the category. Allen checks in at 23.5%, while second place Bossier-Shreveport is at 20%.

Streaking Now: Colton Yellow Horn has a 7-game point streak, dating back to 1/14 vs. BOS. 6 of the 7 games have also seen Yellow Horn register multiple points. Bruce Graham has compiled a modest 3-game streak, dating back to 1/28 at Laredo.
