The Tri-City Americans Hockey Club updates media and fans with information regarding upcoming games, promotions, team news and injuries while glancing back at the previous week's play.

The Americans enter toward the home stretch of the WHL campaign in quest of their first ever U.S. Division crown and will host another big doubleheader weekend as they host the Kamloops Blazers for the final time at home this season on Friday, January 30th at 7:05 pm in the Tri-Cities Coliseum. The Sun Mart Rewards Rally is underway! Be sure to get a Sun Mart Rewards Card at any area Sun Mart or sign up for one at the U.S. Cellular Information Booth. Here's how the contest works...as soon as the Americans score their third goal in any of the remaining regular season games played in the Coliseum, a lucky Sun Mart Rewards Card member will have their number announced and will have a chance to win $13,000 on the spot! It's simple...if your hear your number called, just produce the Rewards Card immediately at the Information Booth. The rules...you MUST be present to win and have your Rewards Card without at the game. The Rewards Card is NOT transferable. You MUST have personal identification as well. NO EXCEPTIONS! The contest is open to all fans 18 and older. After the Americans downed Prince Albert last Sunday they are now 2-1 against Eastern Division teams this season with two games remaining against Moose Jaw February 7th and Brandon February 13th...Tri-City is 13-13-4-2 against U.S. Division teams and 19-19-6-2 in Western Conference play...The Americans are 6-1- 2 in their last nine against B.C. Division clubs heading into Friday's contest against the Kamloops Blazers in the Coliseum...The Americans are 7-11 in one goal games, 7-3 in two goals games and 8-7 in contests decided by three goals or more...Tri-City is 4-4-2-1 in January...Congratulations are in order to Tyler Weiman who collected his 61th career victory last Sunday in the home ice win over the Raiders. The win ranks Tyler as the franchises all-time leader for victories in net...Dylan Stanley needs one point for 225 in his career. He also needs 12 goals for 100 as an American...Ryan Kinasewich needs 12 goals for 100 in an Americans uniform...With three assists Sunday, St. Louis Blues first round draft pick Shawn Belle his first three-point game (three assists) of the campaign. His solid defensive play earned him second star status...Nikita Korovkin's 12th goal of the season tied his career high achieved last season with the Kamloops Blazers. The 20-year-old defenseman has established career best numbers with 33 points this season...Don Nachbaur needs one win for 225 in his WHL career...The Americans "magic number" to clinch a play-off berth is 31 points (15 ½ games). Any combination Seattle losses, ties, overtime losses or points collected by the Americans via wins, ties or overtime loss points totaling 31 and the Americans will clinch a play-off spot.
Americans Help MDA Raise Over 6K!
The Americans 9th annual Muscular Dystrophy Association Skills Competition was held Saturday, January 24th in the Tri-Cities Coliseum and a total of $6,024 was raised and will be donated in its entirety to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The Americans split the team into two squads as Team Belle defeated Team Stanley 14-11. The fastest time recorded in the speed skating competition was by Cody McMullin with a lap time of 13.80 seconds. Ian McDonald proved the most accurate shot by by hitting three of four targets in a 20 second span. Goaltender Carey Price won the shootout showdown. The radar gun misfired and the fastest shot competition had to be canceled. A special thank you goes out to Brad Barker and his staff from Outback Steakhouse in Kennewick for providing the dinner with all the money being donated to MDA. Adding to the excitement of the event, members of the tri-Cities Hurricanes Mite Rep hockey club joined the Americans on ice for the competition. "We are pleased to continue our long time support of MDA and we thank our fans and Brad Barker of Outback Steakhouse for their continuing support of this worthy cause," said general manager Bob Tory.
