
Americans Unable to Hold off Winterhawks in Breast Cancer Awareness Night Loss

KENNEWICK, WA - The Americans hosted their 15th annual Breast Cancer Awareness game tonight at the Toyota Center against the Portland Winterhawks. The two teams faced off on pink ice for an intense inner-division game ending in a 3-1 victory for the Winterhawks.
Tonight's game was scoreless through nearly two periods. Portland's Seth Jarvis opened scoring with just 22 seconds remaining in the second to give the Winterhawks a 1-0 lead heading into the final frame.
A shorthanded goal from Mason Mannek extended the Winterhawks lead to two with ten minutes remaining in the game.
Both goaltenders, Tri-City's Talyn Boyko and Portland's Dantie Giannuzzi, highlighted the night with tremendous saves through the game. Giannuzzi was named first star of the night and Boyko second.
Americans rookie Edge Lambert put the Americans back within one with a power play goal at the 15:17 mark of the third period. Tri-City was unable to find the equalizer in the final minutes and Jaydon Dureau sealed Portland's victory with an empty net insurance goal.
